Message Track and autocross each have their place. There are definitely things you can learn from the track that you can't at autox, but autox compresses and magnifies cornering and load control. You'll have the same number or more corners in a course 1/4 as long. Everything happens a lot faster and you can drive a lot closer to the edge without fear of damaging yourself or the car. Autocross is a ton of fun, and extremely educational.
A lot of people that want to have fun with their cars prefer the track because the speeds are higher, the sessions are longer, and it just feels more epic. It's also more expensive and harder on the car. The Z32, especially in twin turbo form, is a little better suited to the track than autocross too. Once I am graduated and have a DD I fully intend to start hitting the track hard too. The Corner 3 Nissan Challenge had been calling my name for a few years now...
